Our Toddler Program
The toddler has reached the age where independence and self expression are of great importance. Building on these "I want to be independent" skills, children can start learning self help skills such as changing their shoes, dressing, feeding and eventually, in our Toddler two program, start toilet raining. Each child learns at their own developmental rate, so there is no exact time when these " moments" will occur. Parallel play and social play become very evident now and children will play aside one another and then with one another. With different centers set up in the toddlers rooms, children will have the opportunity to learn through this center based play ( Housekeeping, Kitchen, Story Center, Book Center, Puzzles). Outdoor time is offered starting in our Toddler Rooms. The children go outside on the playground two times a day, weather permitting. in our Toddler classrooms, the children will sit through a circle time activity where they will sing songs, dance and learn their colors, shapes and numbers. Through repetition and consistency, your toddler will become more eager to express him /herself and learn! Children in our older toddler room, can empty their lunch trays, throw the trays in the sink ( with help sometimes) and are starting to show signs of toilet readiness. When they start showing signs of being ready at home, we will continue their "pottying" schedule at school. Each toddler room has a large bathroom. You will bring in spare clothes and can bring in a potty seat or item that would be helpful to your child learning their pottying skills.
